Howard City Library is proud to announce that it now has a water bottle filling station in the library! Patrons can now fill their water bottles with refrigerated, filtered drinking water! No longer will the library have to use a Culligan dispenser and small cups. This project would not be possible without their sponsors and donors, and the library could not be more thankful! When talking with Library Director, Emma Skinner, she said, “the installation of the water bottle filling station is perfect timing, just in time for the hot summer months, where we see an influx in use of our services. I am proud of this project and so thankful for everyone who made it possible.”
With the funds from a grant that the library received from the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas and Kansas Health Foundation Public Health Fund – CFSEK, the library was able to purchase a refrigerated, filtered water bottle filling station to install in their building. The Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas hosts individual charitable funds created by donors who have a passion for giving back to their community. Grants from these funds assist people throughout Southeast Kansas and beyond. Call the Foundation at 620-231-8897 with questions about the Community Foundation.
Once the water bottle filling station was shipped and delivered, the library then applied for a grant through the Elk County Community Foundation during their match period for funds to install the new station. With the funds from this grant, the Howard City Library and the City of Howard were able to install the water bottle filling station, which is now up and running.
The Howard City Library is excited for this new addition to the library, and is looking forward to what this new service will be able to provide for patrons and the community.
