Howard City Library welcomes Alanna Walker as the intern for the 2021/2022 school year. The intern program between West Elk and the library is in its 3rd year and has been a great opportunity for all involved.  Alanna has an interest in library sciences and is looking forward to working at the library so that she can continue to pursue this field of study after high school.

The library director, Karen Eshelman, will be training Alanna in patron operations; like book checkout and returns, special programming, and general front desk assistance.  Alanna will also be exposed to budgetary items and will get to see how the public library is supported by the board of trustees.  Alanna’s favorite book is Battle Mage by Peter A. Flannery. Right now Alanna is reading Appaloosa by Robert B. Parker.  You can start the Appaloosa series as well by using interlibrary loan at the library, come see Alanna and she can help you!
